VOLUNTEERING AS A COMMUNITY ASSET
Volunteers are the backbone of many Communities.
However organising and co-ordinating the Volunteers for specific events can consume considerable
planning time.
In addition there are on-going communication challenges as plans are constantly revised due to
factors such as weather, materials, illness and transport difficulties.
As many organisations such as Local Councils eg Mundaring Council and Professional Associations
eg Professions Australia have recognised, an effective Volunteer organisation requires
sophisticated Internet systems to assist with the co-ordination and management of Volunteer
resources.
Members of the OIC have developed "eVAMP - electronic Volunteer Administration & Management
Process" - to assist Volunteer organisations to handle their administration more effectively
and recognise the contributions made by the Club Volunteers.
Further more, as fuel becomes more expensive particularly for Volunteer organisations like
Sports clubs for away game travel, eVAMP can assist Clubs implement roster systems such as
a Car-pool System, a Canteen Roster, BBQ Roster, Shirt Washing to share the costs.
This eVolunteer Administration Process has been developed by members of the eCommunity Special
Interest Group [CZAG] of the Open Interchange Consortium [OIC] to assist Volunteer Organisations
with limited financial and IT technical resources to recognise the assets that their Volunteers
provide to that specific community.
Businesses, particularly SMEs, may wish to sponsor the implementation of eVAMP which provides
an ROI to all Stake-holders including Volunteers via an Electronic Credits process based on
the number of hits and increased business the SME receives from the Sponsorship Web-site
Here are examples of where eVAMP can assist Volunteer Organisations:
