DRAFT REVIEW SENIORS VICE-PRESIDENT POSITION
As you will be aware from the copy of the documents delivered to your
letter box at 21:30 Wed 01 Feb 2006, I meet with Greg CARROLL Seniors
Vice-President 2005 in the car park at Kitcheners.
I introduced myself to Greg as he waited for the other members of
the Committee to arrive.
I explained that my son played for the Sub-Juniors for 2 years and
that I was a team manager in 2005 and this year had volunteered
to act as the U8 Age Co-ordinator
I said that, although the meeting had been cancelled late the
previous day, I was there to meet with the Treasurer for the final
payment for a project proposed by the President and agreed by the
members at the Annual General Meeting on 22 Nov 2005.
That project was to define the Position Functions and Responsibilities
of the members of the Management Committee
Greg was annoyed that the meeting had been cancelled and that
he had not been informed by a call to his mobile.
However as the Treasurer did not arrive, we discussed Greg's perspective
of the Functions and Responsibilities of the Seniors Vice-President
position
Greg explained that, as he was on the Management Committee
of the Manly Warringah Football Association and looked after the
Sub-juniors, he had little time to attend PRSLFC meetings.
However he had been involved with PRSLFC for 18 years and was
very interested in maintaining contact particularly with the development
of the Sub-Juniors
We discussed the role of e-mail and how it could improve Communications
and reduce telephone costs.
Greg said word to the effect "Funny enough as from today 01 Feb 2006
MWFA had decided that it would only communicate with the Affiliated
Clubs by e-mail. The MWFA would require Clubs to provide 3 e-mail
addresses and each contact would receive a copy of the e-mail
so that MWFA would know that at least 1 person in the Club would
receive the information."
ROLE OF SENIORS VICE-PRESIDENT
I explained that a draft summary of the Function and Responsibilities
od the Seniors Vice-President had been prepared
Draft Seniors Vice President
Greg said although he was involved with the Grading, registration,
player disputes etc the majority of his time was spent following up
the players and the over 35s to pay their subscriptions.
Greg said that if PRSLFC accepted Credit Cards it would make it
far easier for the Senior Vice-President to focus on the games and
players and not have to spend so much time collecting cash and
cheques for subscriptions.
In addition Greg felt that the Registration process would be a lot
simpler and far faster if the PRSCFC used computers for
Registration input and e-mail to members to update the players
records each year rather than the process of getting all players to
re-register on hand written forms each year.
Greg also felt very strongly that there should be:
1 a set timetable for the Monthly Management meetings
2 many reports/issues could by agreed by tel/fax/e-mail before meeting
3 the set dates for meetings are published at the start of a seasons
so that a Member (parent or player) could attend without notice to
discuss a difficult issue eg as a concern that one of the coaches
is a Paedophile etc
NEXT STEPS
Peter as I understand it Greg will be at the Registration Day on Sat
04 Feb 2006 so he can correct any issues in this draft record of
our discussion

Steve GOULD
